A distinctive hand-carved Dogon granary door from Mali, featuring a balanced composition of stylised human figures, animal forms and geometric relief decoration.
The two-panel door is densely carved across its surface, with figurative motifs arranged in clearly defined sections and framed by repeated geometric patterns. The strong symmetry, dark patina and deeply worked relief give the piece a bold architectural presence and make it particularly suited as a wall-mounted decorative object.
The surface shows natural variations in carving, grain, wear and patina that reflect its handmade character and give the door its individual appearance.
ORIGIN & ACQUISITION
Handcrafted in Mali and acquired locally during travel in West Africa.

MATERIAL
Hand-carved solid wood with a naturally varied dark brown to black-brown patina and visible tool marks from the carving process. Wood species has not been independently identified.
