Unless explicitly stated otherwise, the objects offered by MyDogon are contemporary decorative objects. They are not presented as archaeological artefacts or antiques.

Our collection focuses on contemporary objects connected to or inspired by artistic traditions associated with the Dogon region of Mali.

Where a more specific origin or attribution can be established, we state it in the individual product description. We prefer careful and transparent descriptions rather than unsupported historical or ritual claims.

Many of the objects currently offered by MyDogon were handcrafted in Mali and acquired locally during travel in West Africa or through local contacts.

Where known, the country of origin is stated on the individual product page.

If the product description states that you will receive the exact piece shown in the photographs, then yes.

Many objects in our current collection are individually photographed and listed, allowing you to see the actual patina, proportions and handmade details before purchasing.

“African bronze” is a commonly used trade term for West African cast-metal objects. The exact composition can vary between different copper-based alloys.

Unless the composition of an individual object has been scientifically analysed, MyDogon therefore describes these pieces as cast copper alloy, commonly referred to as African bronze.

Many of our metal sculptures are produced using the traditional lost-wax casting process and finished by hand.

Small irregularities, casting marks and variations in patina are characteristic of artisan-made metalwork and contribute to the individuality of each piece.

Handmade casting and carving naturally create variations in texture, colour, shape, grain and surface finish.

These characteristics are part of the appearance of artisan-made objects and are not automatically defects.

No. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, these objects are sold as decorative objects only.

They are not intended for preparing, serving or storing food, beverages or medicines.

Gentle dusting with a soft, dry cloth or brush is usually sufficient.

Avoid abrasive metal polishes on patinated metal and aggressive cleaning products or excessive moisture on wood. More detailed recommendations can be found on our Product Care page.

Many carved doors can be displayed as wall decoration.

Because some pieces weigh several kilograms, the mounting method must be suitable for both the weight of the object and the construction of the wall. If you are uncertain, we recommend professional installation.

Yes. Copper-alloy surfaces and patinas can gradually change depending on handling, humidity, exposure and environmental conditions.

This natural evolution can form part of the character of the object. We generally recommend preserving the existing patina rather than polishing the surface to a bright finish.

Orders are dispatched from Germany, with fulfilment and customer service managed from Karlsruhe.

We primarily ship within Germany and Europe and may also offer delivery to selected destinations outside the European Union.

Where tracking is available, you will receive a tracking link or tracking number electronically after your order has been dispatched.

Deliveries within the European Union normally do not require ordinary import customs clearance simply because the parcel crosses an internal EU border.

Orders delivered outside the European Union may be subject to import duties, taxes or customs clearance fees imposed by the destination country. Unless expressly stated otherwise, these charges are the responsibility of the recipient.

Each object is packed individually according to its size, weight and shape. Projecting elements and delicate details receive additional protection, and larger or heavier pieces may require reinforced packaging.

If you are an EU consumer and the statutory right of withdrawal applies to your purchase, you generally have 14 days after receiving your order to withdraw from the contract.

Original packaging is not a condition for exercising your statutory right of withdrawal.

However, because many MyDogon objects are heavy, irregularly shaped or include projecting elements, we strongly recommend reusing the original protective packaging or packaging that provides an equivalent level of protection.

Please contact us at info@mydogon.com as soon as reasonably possible and include your order number together with photographs of the object, outer packaging and protective packaging where available.

We will help you resolve the issue. Your statutory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Handmade objects naturally show variations in patina, carving, casting and surface texture.

For individually photographed pieces, we recommend reviewing all product photographs before ordering, as they form an important part of the description of the exact object.
