A richly detailed hand-carved Dogon granary door from Mali, featuring a narrative composition of stylised human figures, animals and geometric motifs.
The two-panel door is divided into multiple carved scenes, with standing and seated figures, animal forms and repeated decorative patterns arranged across the surface. The combination of figurative reliefs and architectural geometry gives the piece a strong storytelling quality and makes it particularly striking as a wall-mounted decorative object.
The surface shows natural variations in carving, grain, wear and patina that reflect its handmade character and give the door its individual appearance.

Handcrafted in Mali and acquired locally during travel in West Africa.

MATERIAL
Hand-carved solid wood with a naturally varied dark brown to black-brown patina and visible tool marks from the carving process. Wood species has not been independently identified.
